Kyobpa Jikten Sumgön (1143-1217) is the founder of Drikung Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. In this thangka, he is depicted with the Kagyu Lineage masters who preceded him: his own teacher Phakmo Drupo Dorjé Gyelpo (1110-1170), Gampopa (1079-1153), Milarepa (1052-1135), Marpa (1012-1097), and the Indian mahasiddhas Naropa & Tilopa. At the beginning of this lineage is the promordial buddha, Vajradhara. At the bottom of Jikten Sumgön's throne are the three main protectors of Drikung Kagyu - Four-Armed Mahākāla, Achi Chökyi Drolma & Tsi'u Marpo.
