Avalokitesvara in his 1000 eyes and hands (and with 11 heads) is one of the most popular forms of this Buddha of Compassion. Known as "Great Compassionate One" (Tibetan: Thukje Chenpo), his myriad hands and eyes are symbolic of the compassionate aid of this Buddha for all those who invoke him. Avalokitesvara is known as Chenrezik in Tibet, Guanyin in China, Kannon in Japan, and Kwanum in Korea.
