Vajrasattva (Tib. Dorje Sempa) is the vajrayana "Lord of the Mandalas." He is the union of the hundred peaceful and wrathful deities (who appear at the time of the bardo/intermediate state) and is the supreme deity of purification. In this thangka, Vajrasattva is in union with his consort, Vajratopa. This is an expression of the inseparable unity of wisdom and compassion.
