Palden Lhamo (Skt. Shridevi) is very special protector in Tibetan Buddhism. She is the principal worldly female protectress of Tibet and seen as particularly close to the Dalai Lama. She is extremely wrathful in appearance, rides on a mule and seated on the flayed skin of "her son" - who here symbolizes our self-grasping.
