Vaishravana (Tib. Namthosey) is the directional protector-king of the North, revered as the embodiment of the Perfection of Generosity and the Lord of Wealth. Associated with Jambhala and an emanation of Ratnasambhava, Vaishravana is a powerful dharmapala who ensures prosperity and protection for practitioners and communities. As the guardian of many monasteries, he has vowed to protect them from poverty, provided that the residents uphold their monastic vows with purity. Vaishravana is regarded by Je Tsongkhapa as the most suitable dharmapala for those new to Dharma practice, offering blessings of protection and support.
