Norbu Dun-Thang (‘Jewel 7 Decoction’) is classic Tibetan herbal composition for strengthening the body’s defensive functions, which is excellent for treating colds and flu but is even better for prevention. It is one of the most commonly used traditional formulas for treating colds and flus and can be used for every stage of infection. This herbal mix is intended to boost the body's ability to fight infections, reduces duration and severity of cold & flu symptoms, and supports respiratory functions.
According to Tibetan healing traditions, the ingredients in this formulation provide a rejuvenating, immune enhancing tonic that reduces inflammation, improves digestion, and supports cardiovascular, skin, hair and liver health. The formula itself has an overall bitter and astringent taste, with some slight spicy, warming qualities. It is powerfully cooling and anti-inflammatory, and is excellent for “ripening unripened tsawa”, i.e. bringing out and breaking fevers and inflammatory conditions caused by colds and flu. It is also beneficial for resolving ‘empty’ hot-natured or inflammatory conditions (i.e. things like lingering feelings of being run-down and emotionally drained which persist after active infection and fever has passed) and aches and pains associated with immune/inflammatory response, increased blood pressure, and so on.
