Melong - 2"

The mirror (Tib. melong) is an ancient symbol in India. In Indian iconography it may be understood as a symbol for clarity, wholesome or complete perception and ‘primordial purity’ of the mind-stream or consciousness.

Melongs are used in several different contexts in Tibetan Buddhism: something to wear as a reminder of the pristine nature of mind, a ritual instrument to use in trusöl (bathing and cleansing) rituals, as a symbolic offering placed on one’s shrine, as part of a dadar ritual-arrow, etc.
