Bhutan is known as “Source of Medicinal Plants” (Menjung) and is known for the purity of its natural environment and authenticity of spiritual tradition. Bhutanese incense is generally similar to Tibetan incense but often higher quality because of the easy availability of natural ingredients. Most incenses are made based on ancient recipes found in Buddhist texts. We sourced this incense the last time we were in Bhutan back in 2019, a few months before the start of the pandemic. The main ingredients in this incense include juniper, rhododendron, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.
